UUID Generator

Create cryptographically random version 4 UUIDs in your browser.

When this tool helps

Create sample identifiers for local database rows, offline drafts, and test fixtures without contacting a server. UUID v4 is useful when an identifier does not need to encode creation time or business meaning.

How to use this tool

UUID v4 uses random bits to create identifiers without a central coordinator. Use a secure browser context and do not treat a UUID as an authentication secret. Generate up to 100 at a time.

A worked example

Input

Number of UUIDs: 3

Expected result

Three different UUIDs, one per line.
Example shape only: xxxxxxxx-xxxx-4xxx-yxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
y is 8, 9, a, or b.

Choose a count between 1 and 100 and select Generate UUIDs. Each result comes from the browser crypto.randomUUID API. Results change on each run; the shape above is explanatory and is not an identifier to copy.

Edge cases and limitations

  • Use HTTPS or a supported local secure context; the tool reports an error if the secure UUID API is unavailable.
  • Random UUIDs do not provide chronological sorting. Store a separate creation timestamp when order matters.
  • An identifier is not an access-control check. The server must still authorize access to the corresponding resource.

Use the result in your app

Store the UUID as a string using one consistent format and enforce uniqueness in the destination database. For repeatable tests, save a fixed fixture instead of generating a new value inside every assertion.

Keep your workflow private

This utility processes input only in this tab. It does not upload or persist pasted content. Review generated output before using it in a production application.
