Base64 Encoder / Decoder
Encode and decode UTF-8 text using Base64.
Your input
Runs locally. Your input is never uploaded or saved.
Output
Your result will appear here.
When this tool helps
Inspect a UTF-8 text value encoded for transport, or create a small encoded fixture. The tool operates on text rather than arbitrary binary files.
How to use this tool
Base64 is a binary-to-text encoding, not encryption. It does not protect secrets. This tool accepts UTF-8 text and limits input to 100 KB.
A worked example
Input
Hello, developer!Expected result
SGVsbG8sIGRldmVsb3BlciE=Choose Encode text for this input. To reverse it, paste the result, choose Decode Base64, and convert again. Text is encoded as UTF-8 bytes before Base64 conversion, so non-ASCII text is supported.
Edge cases and limitations
- Base64 is reversible encoding. Never treat it as encryption for credentials or personal data.
- A valid Base64 string containing non-UTF-8 binary bytes can still fail this text decoder.
- JWT segments commonly use Base64url, whose alphabet differs. This tool is for standard Base64 and does not verify JWT signatures.
Use the result in your app
Round-trip a representative Unicode string before using an encoded field in an app. If your payload is an image or other binary file, use a binary-aware decoder instead of this text utility.
Keep your workflow private
This utility processes input only in this tab. It does not upload or persist pasted content. Review generated output before using it in a production application.
